At the heart of the orchestra’s creative mission are carefully-curated programmes which effortlessly mix genres, taking audiences on journeys that span history and musical styles. Recent concerts have seen jazz standards stand alongside music by Bartók and Shostakovich, and in which music for tabla rubs shoulders with works by Phillip Glass. ‍ Founded in 2016 by conductor Tom Fetherstonhaugh when he was still at school, the orchestra brings together some of the most exceptional young musicians from across the UK. With fearless programming and fresh, dynamic performances, the orchestra has become much in demand, making its Proms debut in 2024 only 8 years after being formed.
